Moving in togetherBy Julie DeLong, A-1 Freeman Moving Group

Opting to move in together is a huge step. It's one which really should not be taken lightly (or undertaken without a great deal of thought). The two of you need to sit down to talk about everything ahead of when they take the plunge. Being a professional moving company in Colorado Springs, we understand that despite having a plan, it isn't always easy to mix two households into one.

Follow this advice to help you both plan for the next phase.

Be sure that it's the right time. Alas, there isn't a timetable that states when the best time is for a couple to move in together. It all depends on how both parties are feeling. Both of you must be on the same page prior to deciding to merge your households.

Figure out where you want to live. Though it may be simpler to move into one person's residence, for many couples, it is best to start over in a new spot. That way, it'll always feel like home to the two of you, rather than his (or her) place.

If you do elect to move into one person's abode, will the other individual be confident enough to make changes? When anyone moves into the other person's residence, they might desire to make it feel much more like their place by bringing in their unique home furnishings and moving a couple of things around to generate a place for their things. The other individual needs to be capable to sacrifice and permit the other one to make these changes so both people are happy in their new residence.

Don't hurry when sorting through your possessions. When merging two households, you will have sufficient belongings for your new (or existing residence). Perhaps you are going to have not one but two beds, a couple of couches, and plenty of blankets. You'll likely both have bathroom and kitchen pieces.

You won't need double of the things in your new location, so you are going to have to plod through everything to evaluate which you are going to keep and what you intend to sell or give away. Certain sentimental pieces will need to remain however you could struggle to choose what home furnishings you need to keep. You may have to make that decision determined by which is in better condition or which can fit in your home better.

You need not be reluctant to investigate storage. If you are really unable to decide what to keep and do away with, you might want to lease a storage space for the present time. This could also be of assistance if you plan on moving into a bigger house in the longer term. You could need the additional bed for guests when you are all set to get your next house. You may want to keep a few of your sentimental things in storage until you have your man cave or she shack.

Discuss money affairs early. It is important to discuss finances before you decide to move in together. You might like to use a joint checking account in order to band together to cover the bills.

Then again, it may work better if you divide up the bills, letting one person maintain the rent, while the other takes care of the electricity, water, and other bills. You both have to be at ease with how you are going to pay for your bills prior to taking the next step.

Prior to when you move in together, you should take the time and really discuss it. You'll want to make sure that it is the right time for both of you. You also have to decide if you are going to reside in one person's home or commence fresh with your new home. Then, it is time to go through your stuff. Locate a moving company in Colorado Springs to help you and rent a storage locker if you are struggling with whose stuff to keep.
